The Israelis call the Golan Heights the eyes of Israel because they can see virtually all of Israel from the heights. After the war with Syria the Israelis conquered the Golan. Before the war Syrians would regularly shoot at the Israeli Kibbutz and the Israelis often had to spend time in bomb shelters. My uncle was one of the founders of Kfar Szold and my family lived there. I was there in 1993 and I painted this picture.
